This two day, family friendly celebration of the Arts in Idaho and Idaho's talented Artisans is designed to entertain, education and inspire young and old alike! There will be musicians, dance troupes, drama troupes, vocalists and artists from all over the State of Idaho participating in this great event. Clinics, seminars will offer you first hand experience in various genre's of the arts. There will be a fun filled, Children's area complete with bounce houses, a performance stage and hands on art projects. Three performance stages will give you the chance to see and enjoy some of Idaho's top performers! Don't miss this great event hosted by the Idaho Arts Charter School Foundation! Proceeds from the event go to the Idaho Arts Charter School Foundation to help build a performing arts auditorium and develop after—school arts programs for underprivileged students.

Foundations Academy and St. Ambrose Christian High School is pleased to present our premier fundraising event of the season “The Benefit.” The public is invited to join us in our entertaining theatrical production, “Crown Him With Many Crowns.” Our students will be presenting an excursion through history comparing the temporary legacy of prominent kings with the enduring legacy of the King of kings. Guests will experience a Christ—centered presentation utilizing the knowledge gained from a classical education.

Attention: Ada County wants your input on how to spend the budget.

The county has put up a survey up on their web site and is encouraging residents to go to online and voice their opinion on next year's budget.

Public officials will use the survey to match public requests qith areas of need.

'What we have done this year is embarked on a new budgeting process for setting the overall county's budget. Part of that process is we are trying to seek a lot more public input to specific elements of the budget, and trying to seek from our taxpayers what part of the budget should be increased or deacreased, just getting them more involved in the budgeting process,' said Ada County Commisioner Fred Tilman.

The survey can be found in the Ada County spotlight section at www.adaweb.net. Submission surveys need to be filled out by May 19th.

Friday, May 09th, 2008 - Idaho Youth Wheelchair Sports Camp seeks participants

Young people with enthusiasm and energy are invited to participate in the 21st annual Idaho Youth Wheelchair Camp June 18—21 in Boise.

This unique camp provides the opportunity for youth age 6—21 who use a wheelchair or other assistive device to practice a variety of athletic and recreational activities such as basketball, tennis, track and field, archery and swimming.

'Surrounded by their peers, the athletes work with coaches who are athletes of wheelchair sports themselves and provide inspiration as positive role models,' says Emily Kovarik, of Boise Parks & Recreation’s adapted recreation program.

Maximum enrollment is 36 campers. Cost is $$65 for those who register by May 31; late registration fees are $$80.

Camp is based at Fort Boise Community Center, 700 Robbins Road, near Fort and Reserve streets northeast of downtown Boise. The camp is coordinated by staff from Boise Parks & Recreation and the Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Hospital.

The Letter Carriers Food Drive is the biggest food drive of the year and provides food to local hungry families for the rest of the year. Your help is needed to sort, litterally, tons of donated food. The Letter Carriers Food Drive is taking place Saturday, May 10th at the Salvation Army, 403 12th Ave S Nampa, ID. Another large turnout is expected May 10 for the Department of Labor’s 16th annual Youth Job Fair in southwestern Idaho. Over 40 employers representing a broad range of industries and organizations will be represented at the fair, which runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centennial High School, 12400 W. McMillan Road in Meridian.“This is a terrific opportunity for young people to talk with local employers, not just about immediate job prospects but about long—term career opportunities,” said Brian Sporleder, manager of the department’s Meridian local office. Among those on hand will be representatives from Albertsons, Sears, the Boys and Girls Club, Edwards 21 and BODO Theatres, the U.S. Army, Wendy’s, Toys R’Us, McDonald’s, the U.S. Marine Corps, Taco Bell, Lucky Lawns, Kentucky Fried Chicken, the U.S. Navy, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, the YMCA and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Programs. Employers will be filling full—time, part—time, seasonal and entry level jobs so applicants are encouraged to dress for a possible interview. Job seekers can also explore other employment opportunities in southwestern Idaho by registering with the Idaho Department of Labor online at www.labor.idaho.gov. Job consultants will answer questions, assist with job searches and provide information on employment resources available to youth seeking employment. Last year’s Youth Job Fair drew over 700 young people. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = 'urn:schemas—microsoft—com:office:office' />Over 30 vendors are expected to be on hand at TF Farmers Market First Day of the season, Saturday May 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., as well as entertainment from the Vawser Brothers and West End Theatre’s “Tribute To Broadway” cast, and a chance to win a Veggie Tales DVD in the Children’s Veggie Creature Contest.Now in its 17^th year, the TFFM will again be located in the Breckenridge Ag Endowment Farm on the College of Southern Idaho campus.  Approximately one—third of the vendors will be new to the market, and will offer garden bedding plants, baked goods, fresh herbs, handmade clothing, snacks, heritage farm animal breeds, dog treats, metal art, leather scabbards & holsters, jams and jellies, candy, pickles, mustards, handmade baskets, homemade skincare products, quilts, toys, fresh farm eggs, alpaca and wool fiber products, beef, chicken, baby products, soap, as well as paper, crocheted, cross—stitched, and knitted crafts.  One vendor is planning to offer a children’s activity booth.The TFFM has become for many a weekly social circle, a meeting place to browse, shop, eat lunch, compare recipes, garden tips, coo over babies, catch up, and make plans.  Customers are encouraged to bring along lawn chairs and spend a little extra time taking in the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes.According to the USDA, entire communities benefit from a local Farmers Market.  Small farm operators and cottage industries have a place to sell directly to the consumer, and consumers have access to locally grown, farm—fresh produce and handmade products.  With the opportunity to “eat local, eat fresh” and personally interact with the farmer who grows the produce or the crafter who makes the jam, consumers benefit from nutrition education, wholesome eating habits, and better food preparation, as well as boosting the community’s economy. 

The Farmers Market is green in other ways as well.  Since vendors re—use grocery bags, customers are encouraged to bring clean used grocery bags for re—use, as well as used plant containers, mason canning jars, floral vases and containers, egg cartons, and sturdy aluminum pie plates.  Some items, like canning jars, can be bartered for merchandise.

How to get there:  The Twin Falls Farmers Market is just off North College, across from the Eldon Evans Expo Center.  Parking is convenient, with handicap and senior parking just a few steps away from the vendors’ tents.
